Summer Term 2020 is exclusively online. If you were hoping to join us on campus, this is probably not the way you imagined things would be. It’s tough to think about a Wisconsin summer without evenings on the Terrace, walks on lakeshore paths and Babcock ice cream.

But Badgers persist.

Most importantly, we hope you’re safe, healthy and surrounded by support this summer. We’re here for you, and we know you’ll make the most of Summer Term 2020. Here are some tips on how to do that:

Stay focused

You can achieve your academic goals this summer. Summer Term is known for online courses. For more than a decade, we’ve offered high-quality online instruction in a wide variety of subjects. This year, we have more online courses than ever. You can take an in-demand course, work on a challenging subject or take a pre-req for grad school.

We’ve also got some special academic opportunities this summer.

If you’re interested in business, you can work on a Summer Certificate in Business Fundamentals, providing basic business education to students pursuing majors outside of the Wisconsin School of Business. The 12-credit certificate is designed to be completed over multiple Summer Terms, making it a more flexible option to prepare you for business-minded careers.

Stay connected

We’re also here to help you keep that Badger spirit. We’ve created desktop images and phone screen savers to remind you of days on campus, so you can look forward to a time when we’re all together again. Download virtual backgrounds.

Be sure to follow Summer Term on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Keep on the lookout for ways to engage with campus and peers, read encouraging messages and maybe even win some summer swag.

We’ll be sharing summer stories each week in The Weekly. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us via the Summer Term website or by emailing summerterm@wisc.edu.

Stay positive

Wherever you are this summer, remember that you are a Badger, and Badgers are never alone. Think about your peers across the country and around the world studying in solidarity and making a difference in their corner of the world. Although we’re physically apart, we share a lifelong connection.

Here’s wishing you a productive, safe and successful Summer Term!

Summer Term’s first session begins May 18, but it’s not too late to enroll in summer courses. Open the Student Center module in My UW to start the process. For updated information and resources as you embark on Summer Term, see the UW–Madison COVID-19 response page for students.
