It’s time for your summer breakthrough with UW–Madison’s

Transfer Scholars Summer Award!

How much is the Transfer Scholars Summer award?

Students who pay the resident or Minnesota tuition rates will receive up to $500 toward the cost of Summer 2026 resident tuition and fees. Students who pay nonresident or international tuition rates will receive up to $1,000 toward the cost of Summer 2026 nonresident tuition and fees.

Is there anything I need to do to accept the award?

No. If you enroll in summer courses at UW–Madison by June 8, the award will automatically be applied to your summer tuition charges.

When can I enroll in Summer Term?

Summer Term enrollment begins late March, 2026. And don’t forget to consult with your advisor about which summer courses match your academic plans.

Can I use my award for a different semester?

The award is only available for use in Summer 2026, and cannot be applied to a previous or future semester. Students must have been enrolled as a degree-seeking student during the Spring 2026 semester to be eligible.

Are international students eligible for the award?

Yes! All newly admitted spring 2026 undergraduate transfer students who maintain satisfactory academic progress are eligible for the award.

Where do I learn about other scholarship and financial aid opportunities?

Visit the scholarships page and the summer financial aid page to learn more.

Who do I contact for more information about the Summer Transfer Scholars Award?

Please email the Summer Term Office with any questions.

Undergraduate spring 2026 transfer students who enroll in Summer Term 2026 courses by June 8, 2026 are eligible to automatically receive an award. All spring 2026 transfer students are eligible to receive the award, but must maintain satisfactory academic progress. Sound too good to be true? It’s not. In a 2015 survey, your peers said they were interested in taking advantage of Summer Term but weren’t able to enroll because they lacked funds for tuition. We introduced the UW–Madison Transfer Scholars Summer Award as part of our commitment to helping students reduce their time to degree and debt burden.

*Please note Spring 2026 transfer students are not eligible to also receive the Undergraduate Scholarship for Summer Study or Summer Internship Scholarship in addition to the Transfer Scholars Award.

*Fall 2026 transfer students are not eligible for this award and should apply to one of our other scholarship opportunities.
